FC will definately help you get through security quickly. How long it takes depends upon the time of day. Early morning can get pretty busy at PDX, till around 1030ish. And if you're connecting from Horizon to Alaska, it can be a bit of a trek from the A gates to security. All that being said, if smoking is more important to you than getting on the plane first, you can probably take your time and have 2!
