Infants go for 10% of the miles. This also applies on MFU's where they now seem to go for 10% of the lower cabin fare plus 10% of the miles, although last year we just paid 10% of the upgraded cabin fare.

Children pay the full rate with miles.

10% seems to be quite wide reaching so not an example of rip off Britian IMO, but charging infants the full fuel surcharge is taking the piss a bit (BA do this, but SQ for example do not).

Other interesting quirks....

On US domestic flights, standard practice is that lap infants are free altough a few dollars in taxes do crop up.
Most US airlines no longer seem to offer child discounts, but some still offer and INS50 which is a half price ticket for an in-seat infant (i.e. using a car seat).
Some BA fares (Asia-UK-Asia is one example) offer a 50% discount for children, yet the reverse tickets only allow a 25% discount.
Oh, and a commendable mention to Eastern Airways as they don't charge a bean for infants either (at least not on the routes we've used).
