I know they can't put them together, and I know WHEN they split them - we flew on an earlier flight from home-EWR due to weather concerns of our original flight - so we both went standby on the earlier flight. WHY did they split it into two?
I would be surprised if they were split into two separate itineraries unless a request was made to do so. It's my understanding that, even with Plat status, you don't get preferential seating for another passenger. NW affords this benefit; CO does not. You could try calling and see what the CSR does, but it's at the discretion of the person with whom you speak. Otherwise, you'll have to make the request at the airport.
