Last year (or was it longer?) I flew EVA TPE - HNL n/s.

Nothing spectacular, except the fare. D class was <$1600 O/W a screaming bargain versus UA via NRT.

Also, don't overlook CO Micronesia. All flights (seemingly) go via GUM, and interesting stop or even stop over. Although CO has some of the highest fares going.

A brief visit to a globe will confirm NZ and Aust are not even remotely on route - worse yet, connections just don't work that direction. And believe me - I worked hard one weekend to find anything that would!
