Frequent international travelers can arrange for a quickpass to speed them through US and Canada customs. You get your palm-print scanned in once, and from then on, all you do is press the flesh at a special touch-screen kiosk. Called INSPASS, the pass works at several major airports (I personally know IAD-UA, SFO-UA&SR, Vancouver, JFK-LH, LAX-UA, LAX-LH, LAX-SR, ORD-UA, ORD-SR, ATL-SR, EWR-SR, MIA-UA).
