I did not get a Transdniester passport stamp when I passed through in April. I was quite disappointed as it would have been a nice addition to my passport.

Instead, I was given a loose piece of paper (for a bribe of $50) which I assume served as my entry permit. This piece of paper was scrutinised and taken off me when I left Transdniester/Moldova and crossed by land into Odesa in Ukraine. The Ukranians were not bothered that I did not have an official exit stamp from Moldova.

I don't know how it would work if travelling in the opposite direction - ie, entering Moldova by crossing into Transdniester. There would almost certainly be bit of hassle upon leaving Moldova proper without some sort of official entry permit. I couldn't see whether Moldova had any officials on the Transdniester border to let travellers officially enter the country. They certainly didn't police the border going into Transdniester.
