Interesting that the program is now fully merged with PC in the nomenclature as it is no longer just AMBASSADOR or ROYAL AMBASSADOR, but PRIORITY CLUB REWARDS AMBASSADOR.
BTW when did PRIORITY CLUB become PRIORITY CLUB REWARDS?
And I know that Holiday Inn was the first hotel group to start a frequent stay program (PC), but I also thought that AMBASSADOR's predecessor program the SIX CONTINENTS CLUB was the first select benefits program. I recall when Hilton International started up its HILTON CLUB as a response to SCC back in the mid-80s: catering to high end travellers who wanted "same hotel recognition as a regular guest" at other properties in the group.
Of course those were the days we always got checked in by an assistand manager and walked to our room by him/her...had a bottle of champers waiting for us along with a tray of chocolates or cheese/crackers...and the usual fruit bowl and water.
