When we were last at EWR for a 7:30 AM flight, the place was a mess. We'd arrived at 6:30 because with an elite check-in line and elite security line we figured it would be fine.

Good thing we went to the line where you talk to a person... the kiosk line was what really looked like a mess. Ours was not bad, although the security line was insane. Actually, in my recent experiences at EWR, the TSA at EWR is pretty good about kicking non-elites out... I've seen it happen several times in the past several months. The real problem with the elite security lines at EWR is how few scanners they feed into.
