I can better that with something that happened to me about 10 years ago flying from LHR-IST. I asked for a non-smoking seat at check in and was given one. After the sign went off the guy next to me lit up. He shrugged when I said something and took no notice. I finally asked the crew to do something, they did and returned with a no smoking sign that they placed on my seat and explained that the others were smoking seats but that I couldn't smoke in mine!

These days they're OK, long haul C is fine - better than a US carrier and as good as some other European carriers, shorthaul is better than a lot of the European choices and I haven't seen smoking on TK for quite a few years now. I'd be delighted if they joined *A.
