BA do not comp individuals. Full stop. They may comp a company's employees if they agree a new corporate deal, but not on a one-off basis.
BMI, on the other hand, will comp anyone - see the thread on the BMI board. However, you'll be faced with no lounge access on the cheapest fares even with status, and 'paid for' food and drink on board in economy.
You only earn tier points on semi-flex and flexible economy fares. At 20 points a throw, and assuming you are based in Europe, you'll need to do 10 returns (400 pts) to get a Silver card. In Club Europe, at 40 points a leg, you'll need to do 5 returns.
I thought BD Golds (which BMI does comp into) still get lounge access even on the cheapest fares. Or is the BMI website misleading/out of date?
