Yeah, well, most people said that about PIT vs PHL, too, but we see what happened (not because of merger, really, just because of downsizing). CLT has less O/D traffic than PIT, or at least did at the time of PIT downsizing. PIT's has gone up recently, and I'm not sure where CLT's stands right now.
In that hypothetical, I have no doubt that ATL stays a hub and CLT does not.
