Pretty much any hotel in downtown Frankfurt is within easy reach of the airport. It's around a 15 minute drive or a similar length of time by train from the station built onto the terminal.
If staying at the airport, the best option by far (though pretty expensive) is the Sheraton - it's joined onto Terminal 1 (used by all Star Alliance flights) and would be the ultimate in convenience.
Some airlines at FRA let you check in the night before (including Lufthansa but, I think, excluding United). Definitely an option to ask about as it would save you some time in the morning.
