You'll be fine. Needles are okay, even the big needlepoint ones. Just make sure your thread cutting scissors are small enough to avoid a bag check - or even better yet, just bring a thread cutter instead.

(I don't do needle point, but I have done a bit of counted cross stitch from time to time.)
