Hi Random, and welcome to FT.

I get the feeling that since you've never been to the Island that you have no idea how BIG it is. There are many cities and towns littered throughout. Victoria is the largest city and the capital of British Columbia.

If you are staying in Victoria, then I'd suggest the typical answer most will give here and that's the Fairmont Empress. It has great views of Victoria Harbour.

If you're not staying in Victoria, then the above posters' responses may help.
