Glad you liked the Renaissance - you definitely made the right choice over the Outrigger-turned-Marriott.
For some reason I kind of liked the older feel of the Renaissance. And I liked the smaller pool and the overall understatedness of the whole place. It was sort of like the anti-Grand Wailea. The opposite of the 21st century megaresort. Very quiet and peaceful. Uninteresting to small children and incapable of supporting a giant horde of liquor-soaked convention guests. It was probably state-of-the-art in 1980 or whenever it was built. I wish Maui was more like this Renaissance and less like Las Vegas.
Sadly, it is soon to be gone.
