Also TG feeds you well and you get premium check-in lines (unlike SQ). On TG, you get three hot meals (2 with 2 choices and 1 with no choice) and the meals were actually presented (pre-plated on one tray) on business class china and you get the business class napkins and cutlery. Actually the two main courses in PE and economy seem to be common with 2 of the 3 main courses in business. On my TG flights, the PE meals appeared to come out of the business class galleys plated on business class china. On SQ, you only get 2 main meals even though SIN-EWR is longer, and the meals are standard economy meals. The TG product is closer to business class with perks such as separate check-in, more meals. SQ is closer to economy class. Quality of TG meals are better if you like spicy Thai food.
Note that TG PE is 42 in seat pitch. TG normal economy is 36 in seat pitch.
SQ Executive Economy is 36-37 in seat pitch.
Thanks everyone. The informaiton is very important to my choice and I think the TG product is my best bet.
Questions and comments...
I'm United Gold (a Star Alliance member) does this get me any perks with TG? How do I record that number with TG (I recently signed up with their frequent flyer program and didn't see anywhere I could add this number).
I saw a link in an older TG thread, which was completely written in Thai, where the poster had taken lots of photos of their trip in the TG PE cabin and the meals. The presentation and food from those pics of several months ago don't match (at all) the very recent report posted above. I couldn't read the Thai, so I couldn't be 100% certain is was PE, but it did seem to be more spacious than regular econ. Anyone else see this link?
