I'm not sure if this deal is dead yet (I don't have much use for it at this point, so I haven't tried myself) as it was first discovered Saturday night, but as per these three posts on BFT:

...over the past couple days, people have been having great success scoring the
La Quinta Resort and Club for a bid of $40 on Priceline for certain dates in March through June of 2007. Best Hilton.com rates for most/all of these dates are over $400/nt.
My apologies to the mods if this is not the correct forum in which to post such a deal...
UPDATE: Apparently this deal can be had for $25 (!) on certain dates instead of the already unbelievably cheap $40. Priceline will not accept any bid below $40 when one has selected to bid for Resort-level hotels, regardless of the Priceline rate the property has loaded. However, the minimum bid that Priceline will accept for a 3* hotel is $25, and if a Resort has loaded a $25 rate, Priceline will upgrade a $25 bid for 3* to a Resort property. So what you'll want to try to do is bid for 3* in the "Rancho Mirage-Indian Wells-Palm Desert" zone, and with luck your bid will be accepted and upgraded to La Quinta Resort and Club. Successful bids have been reported from February through June 2007.
