I missed my connection was rebooked and was still given credit for the missed flight.

I am not sure if this is normal or not.

Last week I arrived at the airport at 6:00am for a 7:00 am flight to JAX Via ATL.
I soon found out the flight was delayed to 9:30am. Obviously something happened the night before to cause this delay first thing in the AM. I was told the delay was for crew rest. They arrived 2.5 hrs late the night before due to weather issues. Since my flight out was so late I would long be missing my connection in ATL. I was told I had already been rebooked on another flight ATL-JAX. Since this was a weather issue I had no recourse, so I just let it go.

Later when I boarded the 9:30am flight out, the captain got on the PA and apologized for the delay. He said the aircraft had problems the night before that caused them to be so late.

I really do not like being lied to, but oh well. When I got to ATL I decided to check with customer service if they can do anything for me due to this delay. They said they would give me a $100.00 credit voucher. I said that would be great.

So today, I happen to be booking some travel and wanted to use the voucher. I called delta and told them I wanted to use the Voucher. He asked for the document number then tried to tell me it is a hotel voucher. I told him it was not, and explained to him why I had it. He then looks up my flight from last week and says I did not use the ATL-JAX portion. I explain I was rebooked later in the day do to the delay. He then tells me I need to talk with the reissue desk to deal with this.

I get the reissue desk and explain the deal to them. She tells me I still have credit for the ATL-JAX portion. However, to use the $100.00 Vocuher I have to go to a delta ticket counter. She was able to book my new R/T flight with the credit from my missed connection flight. I actually still had $30.00 left after this.

Is this normal? I missed the connection obviously due to delta, but they did rebook me later. I guess it did not take the credit from the flight I did not use.

I got my next trip for free, which was a vacation trip not work, and still have the $100.00 credit
