Nobody but mileage runners would deliberately route LAX/SFO-JFK-NRT - not to mention they probably can't do it on an award ticket (indirect routing) and on a paid ticket the fare would be insane, so that would defeat the purpose of MRing in the first place.

I dont think this has anything to do with what he was talking about. I think he just meant how many people in NY will use UA for transcons now versus AA.
