New to DL - JFK to Istanbul return from Athens – will DL coach be unbearable?

I’m taking a cruise Istanbul-Athens late September and was hoping to use CO miles for reward seats. I have enough for coach reward tx and CO agents found seats on nonstop Delta flights out of JFK. But a trip report I saw recently slamming Delta first class to Hawaii – no meal served, rude personnel, broken seat etc - is giving me pause, especially with such long flights.

I’ve never flown DL – usually CO out of EWR -including to Europe in coach which wasn’t fun, but bearable in the 2 side seats of the 2-3-2 configuration. Just wondering if this person’s experience on DL was typical.

I’m told by CO agents that I can’t use CO miles to upgrade a paid Delta ticket so that’s not an option. Should I consider using CO miles on KLM instead? Or even a nonstop from JFK on Turkish airlines? Any advice appreciated.
