Entry to lounge is dependent on class of service (or FF status) at departure airport for flight segment.

As your folks were in *economy* from London to Nairobi, and have no status with AA/BA/OneWorld, they were not entitled to use lounge.

The fact they flew business US-UK was irrelevant.
