Have used SkyMiles each year for the last 10 for 3 first class tix to Maui over Spring Break. Has been getting harder and harder to land them for a reasonable amount of mileage. No problems up to about 3 years ago - often used old miles and 75,000 for 2 tix. I always called 331 days out. 3 years ago, landed 2 and stood by for last one from confirmed coach award ticket. Successful. Two years ago landed 2 at 60,000 and went ahead and got the third for 120,000. Last year and this year, no saver awards were ever in inventory (I go out Saturday and return Friday, 2 weeks later, heavy travel days), so I had to burn 120,000 for EACH ticket - not a great deal on the lousy DL 767-400. But at least I go a bit early from ATL to LAX on the 777, business class. I also tried NW and CO, and even UA from my US miles - but to no avail - could have gotten Y but no F - even to HNL. Suggest you try NW or CO, and if nothing, bite the bullet and spend the 120,000 for the second ticket.
