When you say your "schedule" makes using UA inconvenient, are you referring to business travel and employer-paid flights? If so, many people have busy schedules, as do I. Despite that fact, I made 1K last year on 100% personal travel and 0% work travel. If you really wanted to make 1K, you could do so on your own time and dime.
