IAD-NRT makes a lot more sense as UA has a lot more flights feeding IAD than JFK.
Can see your arguments, but for people out of the NY area, would they jump on the possibility to fly out of IAD with UA, if they have the possibility to use either JL and ANA non-stop out of JFK, I am not so sure!
