Sorry for any confusion - the holiday's a wee bit confusing. It's done in hours - I get 210 as annual allowance, plus I buy an extra 35. If I was on normal (for my company) 7 hours days, this would be 35 days, but because I work (for contract purposes) 7 days a fortnight at 8 hours and 2 at 7, it translates to just over 30 of "my" days. In reality, a 2 week holiday (which is the only down-side - for audit purposes need to be off for 10 working days in a row once a year, but no real great hardship!) will include a scheduled day-off due to my compressed hours, so will "cost" the same.
Apologies if this sounds way too excessive (it is, and I've been very lucky to have had it for so long!). If it's any consolation, I'd never get further than my current level (and couldn't move sideways either) without losing the flexible hours and the bought holiday, but even the standard 30 days would be better than most.
