Is moving closer to the new job an option?

I one hour 45 minute commute twice a day would drive me mad, but that is me

Think it is a lifestyle question: what lifestyle is important to you? do you have a partner/kids (if so, how will they - and your relationship with them - be affected?)? how important is the money? where do you want to be in 5/10 years? would it be worth doing for the short/medium term?

I started my career with a big 5 Management Consultancy firm and soon decided that the lifestyle wasn't for me (required a LOT of working/living away from home, away from loved ones and away from sports/interests). Also, for some reason, it didn't seem to pay THAT much more for what I gave up. So I opted out of that. But what is wrong for some, is right for others (bet that there are a LOT of very happy Management Consultants out there...). It is a very personal choice.
