On the other hand, the Sofitel on the outskirts of the city looks quite sleek and stylish, and it promises AC, an outdoor pool and easy access to the vineyards northwest of the city. Has anyone stayed at this hotel in the past few months, and if so, do you think it is worth the extra euros (130 a night, including breakfast, instead of 95 for my other hotel booking in the city)? Thanks for the advice.
If it is of any use, I stayed last weekend (Sunday night) at the 3* Mercure hotel near the Bordeaux airport. Hotel is air-conditioned and they have a pool as well as a good restaurant.
