My husband, father and I are planning a long weekend in Bordeaux, to visit vineyards, in early August. In light of the current (and likely ongoing) heatwave, I would like to stay in a hotel with AC/climatisation. Most of the city centre hotels that advertise AC appear to be charm-free chain hotels in need of some freshening up. On the other hand, the Sofitel on the outskirts of the city looks quite sleek and stylish, and it promises AC, an outdoor pool and easy access to the vineyards northwest of the city. Has anyone stayed at this hotel in the past few months, and if so, do you think it is worth the extra euros (130 a night, including breakfast, instead of 95 for my other hotel booking in the city)? Thanks for the advice.
