I wonder if it's true. On long flights on the 747 the crew will sometimes leave a few cans of soda and bags of snack mix in the rearmost area (where there are only four lavs, a "parking area" for carts, some jumpseats and the entrance to the crew rest area upstairs). It is the unofficial "hanging out" spot and those nibbles left out would seem to encourage passengers to congregate there. I've met some interesting people back there

while killing time between hours in the seat.
