I'd have to agree with you. The loss of systemwides and CR1's at UA, to become midtier at both UA and AA, is a serious decrease in beneifts for the amount of flying you do. Of course, if you wanted to leave UA behind and go for top tier at AA, you'll find many of us happy at that level, particularly with the free domestic upgrades (which will work against you as a midtier flyer on AA-something else to think about).
