Try flying US from LGA or JFK, where you can at least credit miles back to MP. I wanted to buy a NYC-SFO A-fare with less than 10 days. UA was $1500+ (non p.s.) and US was $818, with connections. I paid almost half the cost and picked up extra miles on the connection.
