I have to go to Montevideo this weekend. I haven't been there since about 1999/2000.

A fellow that was just there a month or so ago said that Uruguay does not have/allow the sale of pre-paid SIM cards for mobile phones. I usually get to a country and buy a SIM card and plug it in my unlocked quad-band...but in Motevideo you have to buy the phone and all.

I Googled Uruguay SIM cards and got nothing useful.

Anybody have any insights?
