Enter my one night stay at the Marriott in Monterey, CA January 4th. I was truly impressed by the cheerful service at the hotel. Everyone seemed like they enjoyed getting out of bed in the morning to come to work. It was most noticeable everywhere throughout the hotel. Could this possibly be the norm at Marriott… or is this hotel just a fluke?
Update from OP: Since posting this early in the year I now have over 50 nights at Marriott properties this year. Most of these were work stays at the Courtyard in Lincoln and Providence, RI plus the FS Marriott in Providence. For pleasure I have stayed at the Wardman Park Marriott and The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in DC, The Cleveland Marriott at Key Center, and Le Merigot, A JW Marriott in Santa Monica.
So far I’m still impressed. Almost every Marriott person I have come in contact with has been cheerful and efficient. All of my rooms have been very clean and most have had the new beds. I was able to use the EEO & B1G1 certs without (major) difficulties (a nice perk). My only complaints so far were my inability to get signed up for the better MR promotion this spring (would have had another 20,000 points

) and the wretched soundproofing at the Courtyard in Lincoln.
