While I agree it would make sense to consolidate lounge operations at LAX T2 to make a single STAR facility, I think the pressing need for STAR is at Bradley not the other terminals. Of course, once AC starts flying to SYD from LAX, it will be a direct competitor to both NZ and UA. And depending upon the hour of its flight, the NZ lounge might become somewhat overcrowded if consolidated with AC's.

(As for food offerings at NZ, it will be more generous than AC's simply because NZ is catering to hgih-yield customers who are likely paying a maximum fare over a maximum distance. AC's customers will be paying as little as they can to fly back to Canada, so margins will be low, and flight times shorter. NZ's catering in the lounge also substitutes for the first inflight meal for many premium travelers who prefer to get an early sleep.

As for VIRGIN, perhaps it just isn't financially viable -- Hollywood stars aside -- to operate its own lounge at LAX.
