Smile A very stupid ordeal... !?!

Fellow FTer's!

Just had a very strange / stupid return flight from Paris.

Right... I was booked for the return sector CDG - LHR last saturday leaving at 17:55hrs. For reasons still beyond me, I was convinced i was booked for the 20:15hrs flight so obviously arrived at the airport feeling more than stupid!

When I arrived there at 18:30hrs I was told that the flight was delayed and the passengers had still not boarded yet but despite this all the seats were now allocated to other LHR connecting flight passengers. Since it was my own pure stupidity, i accepted fate and ended up having to cough up ~£120 for a single economy ticket on the flight i thought i was on (20:15hrs) and obviously feeling very annoyed with myself (eventhough i know it could have been worse).

If you've been to Terminal 2B at CDG you'll understand why i absolutely had to go back to the BA desk with my newly bought economy ticket and ask the kind lady if it was still possible for me to at least use the BA lounge since my original ticket was in business class. She then looked very puzzled and said she was terribly sorry and that she had made a mistake!?! She took my ticket, called up someone on her walkie-talkie and from what i can make out of her french, she said that she was not aware i was in CE and thought my original was in ET and whether it was still possible for me to get onto the original flight!

Since all the passengers had now boarded, there was no way i could get on, so she then took my ticket and printed out a new one for seat 2A and asked me if i knew where the lounge was hence the feeling grateful!

Now what do you veterans make of this ordeal cause it left me pretty confused and not sure why I ended up with my new seat? Is it because i was 1) originally in business and they were feeling sorry for me, 2) that i could have been on the original flight and not paid the extra £120 or 3) because they knew the subsequent flight was also going to be hideously delayed? (approx 90 mins later than it should have been)

All in all, guys, I hope none of you have to every share my embarrasment so check your tickets!
