As you can see there are indeed two parallel runways, and a separate taxiway. However as previous people have posted, the two runways are too close together to use at the same time. I believe this makes LGW the worlds busiest single runway airport.
Wow, look at all that room to the South of the main runway (t'other side of the maintenance hangers). It looks like a second proper runway could easily fit in there with next to no buildings being demolished in the process.
Presumably this is where the planned second runway would get built sometime after 2019 when the legal restriction is lifted?
