We stayed at the MERRIJIG INN, 1 Campbell Street, Port Fairy, Phone: 61 3 5568 2324 Website:

The Merrijig Inn is Victoria's oldest Inn. Open fires in snug sitting rooms, the intimate old bar of the original inn, licensed restaurant, cosy attic bedrooms, downstairs suites, a conservatory overlooking a delightful cottage garden, all within the best example of a Georgian street corner Inn still standing in Australia. From most windows, the endless and fascinating bustle of fishing boats and yachts of this historic port, once the busiest outside Sydney, can be viewed. Rooms offers en suite, television and tea/coffee making facilities. There are laundry facilities for your convenience and the tariff includes breakfast.
We got to Port Fairy near dinner time and did not have as much time as we would have liked to enjoy the town and its many shops and restaurants. The Inn was nice, we used its free laundry facilities and had breakfast there before leaving the next morning.
