The old miles are particularly valuable if they can be redeemed under the old medallion schedule (e.g. 25,000 for a domestic F, including Bermuda etc.) In order to do so, I think that you had to be a medallion at the time they converted to the new program and may still need to be one.

Is your boss a million miler? If so, he/she is also lifetime medallion.
