There is a big difference. I would do a search for "Old Miles" and "Award Chart". There are plenty of threads which contain the old awards and how truly valuable they are. Don't let him do anything with those miles without first reading those threads. This comes up quite often (2x this week) and it is important that the miles be used properly. They are not the same as SkyMiles!
