In the immediate Castro vicinity, you might like the Midnight Sun (video bar). Badlands is popular with the tourists. A favorite of mine if you just want a gay pub to drink beer in is the Pilsner Inn on Church just off Market (easily walkable from Castro).
The bars in the Castro are clustered pretty close together so it is no problem to bar hop until you find the scene most to your liking.
