I called Marriott back and confirmed that if we had to cancel less than 60 days prior to check in they would give us back our points and charge us 3 nights room and tax to the cc they have on file for us. So I got the room price and purchased a travel ins policy for that amt x3. Policy cost $104.00. A small amt for some addl peace of mind in case of a last minute glitch in plans.
