Yes, this is the biggest bug bear I have for the recent cost cuttings. I checked in on Sunday to LHR as part of my current itinery. The SSCI machine would not accept my Credit Card, why oh why can't it at least show the last 4 digits of the card as I always forget which one I used as I have 3 I use regularly.
I then queued for 25 mins as "FAST" bag drop was heaving. There was only 1 harrassed BA staff member floor walking and about 5 at the desks.
If BA Gold/Silver/F/J are routing on long haul then this is where they need regional "Zone R's" to give these customers the right experience.
I would very much consider flying *A in future to have access to the Premium Queue.
Incidentally as I queued there were quite a lot of business folk who would stand where the old prem queue used to be and it took them a while to realise no one would serve them as the Prem Desk wasn't there. I do wonder how much business they will lose because of this.
