It's not nearly as convenient as having the rebate applied to your annual statement but it sure beats sitting on expired coupons if one should forget, and I'm sure there are ones who completely forget about these things, and this is what Amex is betting on.
i almost forgot once, but Amex/Costco sends a reminder postcard if
your check is about to expire. Atleast that did over a year ago.
I'd rather have the amount credited back to the statement.. but
a solid 1-2-3% is excellent.
