We were there in June and here is what happened to us:

We had schedule an award stay (with marriott and they also gave us FF miles) that we schedule a year in advance months after the construction "was" to be finished. As the time drew near we knew that the construction would not be even be CLOSE to being finshed. I did not want to waste my hard earned 180,000 points and not be happy. We were traveling with our children and did not want to hear construction noise at the pool, we knew we would need laundry services, wanted the spa, etc. My husband contacted Marriott, who was no help, and then the manager of the resort who was helpful. We were stuck because we could not change our flights and move to another island.
The manager told my husband once we arrived that if we were not satisfied we could move to the Hilton. We had been to the Hilton before and knew our children would love it, as it has great pools. My husband asked for an email stating that fact and we brought it with us.
Once we got there and saw the mess in front and back we asked to be moved and we were moved to the hilton after a manager was contacted-no problem. We were extremely happy with how the situation was handled. The property will no doubt be fabulous when it is finished, but I would avoid it if possible for the foreseable future.
