That's why I always have my membership card out and it's the first thing I give them when I get to the desk. They can pull up the reservation using the name or number on the card....and they see my elite level. Then, I move on with the credit card and the picture ID.

Back OT: I have to admit, I can only think of a few bad experiences (mostly because it's a run-down property). I do not think a failure to get an upgrade is a bad experience....I can't expect a nicer room unless I am willing to reserve it.
