I checked my usual Thanksgiving holiday flights - no awards (either kind) within 3 days of Nov. 23 and no discounted fares. $500+ RT. Last year at this time I was able to at least book an award for less convenient dates.
What a fraud. Give us back the old award rules.
I too tried to book a Thanksgiving flight to take my family down to see my grandparents. They have never seen my 10 month old son. Needless to say that I was crushed to find out that I can't use my RR because all of the seats were gone. I fly 25 legs a year with them and earn a Companion pass every year, and this is how they reward me? This new system sucks. I called customer relations, I hope some of you do the same so that maybe they can change it back. What good are the rewards if you can not use them? The RR program made them unique...now it's just like all the other airlines. Assigned seating is next. They might as well get it over with and start charging a $75 fee to change your flight, add airline clubs, jack up the prices on fares, etc. Because they obviously want to be like everyone else.
