One can listen to music while watching the flight map...I do it all the time in between videos. Follow the procedure below:

Go to Audio mode on your controller, select the music channel you want to listed to, then switch to Video mode on the controller and go to Channel 22 (on the non-AVOD aircraft) or Channel 98 (AVOD aircraft). You will see the flight map and the audio channel will play as well.

Note: You cannot play the My Playlist or Audio CDs from the interactive mode this way. Also, it does not work if you select the Flight Map from the interactive mode.

The SQ regional J seat is terrible for a medium-haul flight like BNE and MEL (2 of the 3 daily flights are 773s with regional J seats).
