I ask because airlines like Delta and Continental will find lame excuses for not clearing miles/certificate-using passengers into J, even though there is space and will fill the cabin with non-revs instead.
In my case F had 2 seats open the day before, but there were 2 GS flyers who got the upgrade seats ahead of me as a 1K. It happens, UA did the right job.
