I stayed at the YHA there (can't remember the name) its half-hostel and half-motel and easy walking distance to town. I thought the price was reasonable but many of the accommodations in Pt. Douglas are upscale. I dove with HABA and thought they were terrific. The day trips to the rainforest will pick you up where ever you are staying so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
