Thanks for reading my thread and responding everyone
I didn't think I would get so many responses!

Thanks!
mcg1000, I checked
www.tour.ne.jp, but couldn't find much of a difference in the fares listed...but thanks!
Kakjapan, yeah, I think it's true that they list fares without including taxes and fees on their site.
flymetokix, I think you are right about the fares being similar everywhere.
It's reassuring to know that the fares I found were the probably the best I could find.
SirDomino, I do use IACE a lot. I called them this time too, but I guess the fares from Japan to New York rountrip are higher (much higher) than the fares from New York to Japan roundtrip. I think this is because, most of the people who fly roundtrip from New York to Japan are going there to see family, and not for tourism. On the other hand, most of the people who fly from Japan to New York roundtrip are going for tourism.
Q Shoe Guy, I used to fly Northwest Airlines every year when I went back to Japan to see my relatives. But that was when Northwest still had direct flights to Tokyo from New York. They don't anymore.
LapLap, thank you for your kind words. I guess I was hoping to find better fares because I am used to paying less when I go back to Japan. Also, because my relatives are paying for their own tickets and I wanted to find a relatively reasonable price, like around 1,000 dollars. My father told me that in the past, the fares from Japan to New York were the same as the fares from New York to Japan, roundtrip. But I guess it has changed. Yeah, I hope to make their vacation here a memorable expereince

Thanks, LapLap!
My relatives decided to go with the fare for Japan Airlines that I found later on JAL's Japan website. The price is 194,000 yen and around 1,700 dollars. I like ANA better but they didn't have availability on the day they wanted to leave. I like Continental also, but I guess they feel more comfortable on a Japanese airline.
Thank you everyone for your advice
