OK, your options include Circle fares, from the Middle East these were not too bad on 1W some time ago. Cover London, Oz and Far East with a holiday in Dubai at the same time.

You also have the JNB option that seems to be forgotten by others around here. This would also give you an additional transit point in Africa if you wanted it with a Comair link from the JNB hub to a BA point elsewhere in Africa.

NZ will be operating 777s on some of the LAX LHR route day to free up 744s via HKG as and when capacity dictates.

The discounters for some BA flights include Airline Network who seem to be able to come up with the odd discount that the others do not, also QF fares may be the way to go and use the codeshare to travel on BA.

There used to be a push to get people on the QF 6 off FRA so discounts were possible on that route. QF also used to do purchase ahead companion deals via Amex travel, I very rarely travel with anyone, so not sure.

If you are travelling together, then NZ have also done some very good companion fares in business before now. Check their website.

CX can do discounts on different European origins, try Rome and log in to their site to see if the companion offer is around, but remember to get the Italian site!

BA will not interline through YVR as they only interline with oneworld carriers.

Happy landings
